Dear Students,

At SELC College, we are committed to providing you with a quality education and a positive learning environment. However, this commitment must be shared by both the College and our students.

Recently, we have experienced concerning situations involving students arriving late, missing scheduled classes, and, in some cases, entire classes being absent without prior communication.

This is unacceptable and must change.

Our instructors dedicate their time, knowledge, and effort to preparing and delivering your classes. When students fail to attend without communicating, it demonstrates a lack of consideration for the instructor, their classmates, and the educational opportunity they have been given.

Effective immediately, we expect every student to:

  1. Attend all scheduled classes and arrive on time.

  2. Notify the appropriate College representative as soon as possible when unable to attend.

  3. Take responsibility for missed lessons, assignments, and academic requirements.

  4. Treat instructors, classmates, and College staff with professionalism and respect.

  5. Understand that attendance is monitored and that repeated or unexplained absences may result in action under SELC College's attendance and academic policies.

A reminder about professionalism:

Whether you are studying Health Care, Child Care, Business, Hospitality, or any other program, the habits you develop as a student reflect the professional you are becoming.

In the workplace, failing to show up without communicating can have serious consequences. The same principles of accountability, reliability, and respect begin here.

We understand that personal challenges and unexpected situations can happen, and we encourage you to communicate with us when you need support.

However, not attending class without communicating is not an acceptable solution.

We ask all students to take this reminder seriously and demonstrate the commitment expected of members of the SELC College community.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Warm regards,

Cynthia Horton
