📢 MANDATORY WELCOME ORIENTATION – THIS FRIDAY!

Dear Students,

Our next SELC College Welcome Orientation is this Friday, September 18, and attendance is MANDATORY.

 

Who must attend?

Every student must attend the Welcome Orientation for their CURRENT program.

This applies regardless of when you started at SELC, how long you have been studying with us, or whether this is your first or second SELC program.

⚠️ If you attended an orientation for a PREVIOUS program, you are still required to attend the orientation for your CURRENT program.

The only exception is if you have already attended the Welcome Orientation for the program you are currently taking.

Please remember: Completing the registration form is not an indication of interest or an RSVP. By registering, you are confirming that you WILL attend the mandatory orientation.

🚨 IMPORTANT UPDATE – IMMIGRATION WORKSHOP RESCHEDULED

❌ NO WORKSHOP TODAY – Tuesday, September 15

📅 NEW DATE: Saturday, September 19
⏰ 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM (PST)
💻 Virtual Workshop

Due to an unexpected last-minute scheduling conflict, today’s Study Permit Conditions & Staying Compliant workshop has been rescheduled. We sincerely apologize for the short notice.

The good news? 🎉 The new Saturday time gives more students the opportunity to participate, especially those who were in class or were not aware of today’s session.

🎤 MEET YOUR GUEST SPEAKER – YATAN ANAND

Yatan was once an international student, just like you. Today, he is a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) and Senior Vice President of SELC Education Group.

During this workshop, Yatan will discuss important topics including study permit conditions, attendance requirements, maintaining your student status, reporting changes, and common mistakes that may affect your immigration status.

🎉 NEW: SELC STUDENT RECOGNITION PROGRAM 🎉 

At SELC College, we believe hard work deserves to be seen, recognized, and celebrated. 

Beginning September 18, 2026, we will recognize two outstanding students each month through our new SELC Student Recognition Program. 

🥇 1st Place – SELC Student of the Month 

In partnership with WestTrek, the winner will receive: 

  • 1-Day Whistler Adventure Tour for one person 

  • Framed SELC award certificate 

  • Recognition on the SELC Student Recognition Wall 

  • Student spotlight on SELC social media and/or Moodle, with permission 

  • SELC-branded item, when available 

  • Digital certificate/badge for LinkedIn 


🥈 2nd Place – SELC Student Achievement Award 

The winner will receive: 

  • Admission to a selected sporting event for one person 

  • Framed SELC award certificate 

  • Recognition on the SELC Student Recognition Wall 

  • Social media and/or Moodle recognition, with permission 

  • SELC-branded item, when available 

  • Digital certificate/badge for LinkedIn 

How are students recognized? 

Students may be nominated for: 

  • Academic Excellence 

  • Attendance Excellence – minimum 98% attendance 

  • Student Ambassador 

  • Outstanding Co-op Student 

  • Community Volunteer 

  • Leadership 

  • Campus Spirit 

And remember: Academic Excellence is not only about having the highest grades. 

Exceptional improvement counts too. 

A student who works hard, stays committed, and improves significantly over time may be just as deserving of recognition. 

Consistency Matters 

Each award will be based on the student's performance, effort, improvement, attendance, leadership, professionalism, and contribution over the previous two full calendar months. 

For our first awards on September 18, we will recognize achievements demonstrated during July and August 2026. 

Students do not nominate themselves. Nominations are submitted by SELC instructors and campus staff based on what they observe in the classroom, on campus, during activities, and in co-op. 

So keep showing up. 

Keep improving. 

Keep helping others. 

Keep participating. 

Keep leading. 

Keep giving your best. 

We see your effort. 
We see your progress. 
We see your consistency. 
Your hard work is seen.
